A NEW APPROACH TO Strategic THINKING AND DESIGNING FOR DISRUPTION
Change. Uncertainty. Disruption. With unpredictability now the only thing that we can predict in life and business going forward, how can you stay ahead of fast-changing times and trends?
The Shape of the Future: How to Design for Disruption, Plan for Uncertainty and Adapt to Whatever Tomorrow Brings™ reveals how to design strategies that are flexible and resilient enough to adapt to whatever the future brings. The systems that endure are never the ones designed to resist change. They're the ones designed to run on it.
Whether you're leading organizations, launching products, or redesigning how your team operates, the book offers a practical blueprint for creating solutions that grow stronger through use and convert every shock or setback into fuel for growth.
Offering a revolutionary new approach to design thinking and strategic planning, it reveals how to build future-proof solutions that grow stronger and more resilient over time… not less relevant. Inside, you'll discover how to thrive amid change and disruption.
Build for What's Next. Thrive through disruption. Stay relevant for what's coming around the corner.
Don't just adapt to change, get stronger because of it.
Systems that endure aren't optimized for a single ideal state. They're built for continuous transformation. FORMA™ is a design thinking framework built on five interconnected principles - Flexibility, Optimizability, Resilience, Modularity, and Adaptivity - that explains why some systems thrive amid uncertainty and disruption while others collapse. It's not about predicting the future. It's about building strategies ready to greet it.

What Industry Leaders Are Saying
Insights from the executives, strategists, and innovators leading tomorrow’s organizations.
"ADJ and Scott Steinberg offer a powerful lesson I learned over decades of military service: You don’t survive complexity by predicting it, but by building teams and systems that can adapt faster than events unfold. The Shape of the Future translates that hard-earned insight into a powerful framework for leaders everywhere.”
General Stanley McChrystal, #1 NYT Bestseller, Risk: A User’s Guide
This isn't a book. It's a paradigm shift.
The Shape of the Future™ will forever change the way that you see the world.
Discover a repeatable, scalable framework for building products, teams, and strategies able to learn from change, and evolve stronger for the effort. From startups to Fortune 500s or governments redesigning public services to educators rethinking how we train tomorrow's students, FORMA offers a reliable pathway through shifting times and trends.
Every example underscores the same uncomfortable truth. What you build today will face a tomorrow that you cannot predict. The only question is whether your creations will fold under pressure or feed on it. The Shape of the Future is built upon 12 years of research on how winners thrive amid disruption in every domain.
Across technology, healthcare, education, urban planning, military strategy, consumer products, and more, the answer is simple: The systems that endure are never the ones designed to resist change. They're the ones designed to run on it. You do not need another book full of case studies to admire from a distance. You need a different way of thinking, one that rewires how you approach every design challenge, every team structure, every strategic decision from this point forward.
FORMA is that rewiring. It is not a formula, not a twelve-step process, not a consulting framework dressed up in new language. It gives you the architecture to thrive in any version of the future.
Learn to spot what others miss: FORMA gives you a lens through which to design better systems and solutions.
Discover how to design for continuous growth and evolution - not fleeting market trends and temporary success.
Find out how to turn disruption into fuel... and every shock, surprise, and setback into competitive advantage.
Build products, services and solutions designed to change and evolve - not grow more irrelevant or outdated.
Master scaling without breaking, whether you lead a 5-person team or a 5,000-strong organization.
Realize how to stop predicting and start designing for tomorrow... and prepare to greet it, whatever future arrives.
"Designing for adaptability instead of permanence is now a true sign of institutional strength. At the Drucker Institute, we often say that mission must remain steady even as execution changes. FORMA provides a compelling vocabulary for striking that balance and can help institutions not only survive disruption but shape the future they seek to create.
Michael H. Kelly. Executive Director, Drucker Institute, Claremont Graduate University

ADJ
ADJ spent two decades inside the machine of corporate innovation: The kind with keynote stages, consulting retainers, and strategy decks thick enough to stop a door.
He has been the in-house Futurologist at a Swedish car company famous for its safety measures, Chief Knowledge Officer at a telecom where he built the thing behind the thing, and the person credit card companies, investment banks with three names, German engineering giants, pharmaceutical firms, and the occasional government called when they wanted someone to tell them the truth about tomorrow. He has done this across finance, energy, mobility, and life sciences. Some clients even hired him twice.
What he learned from all those years is simple: Most corporate transformation is performance art. The useful strategies fit on a napkin. The 200-slide decks usually mean there is no plan at all. When someone says "leverage our core competencies," they often have no idea what they actually do.
When they whisper "disruption," he checks if there is a real problem being solved or just apps duct-taped onto broken processes.
Today he runs Visoko Darvo , where he does work that matters without the conference circuit.
